The french ensemble Les Hautbois d'Henri
IV reconstitutes a "band of oboes" like those
which used to perform at the end of the 16th century, in France
and throughout Europe, in official ceremonies, bals, village parties
and made church archways reson brightly with their loud instruments.
Composed
of professional musicians, this band of oboes, cornetts and sackbuts
used to play for King's own parties, for weddings, coronations and
services but also to divert guests with light songs and instrumental
fantasies.
Henri
the IVth was quite convivial. From Rabelais to Montaigne, his era
shows evidence of a simple but polished way of life, in spite of
kingdom's difficulties.
In
street concerts, Renaissance bals or musical theater, Les
Hautbois d'Henri IV propose to make this famous musical
tradition live again for you.
The
ensemble holds forth in period costumes and the instruments used
were rebuilt from original ones kept in various European museums. |
